In spite of all the misfortune to befall all of murmur's previous drummers, Dave Pope has joined murmur as it's latest - and final - drummer. Dave rocks, and we're glad to have him aboard.

And if that wasn't enough news, just call us butter, 'cause we're on a roll. We've got a great couple months lined up for July and August with nearly a show a week.

The fun begins Thursday, July 26th at The Pearl. This will be our first show with Dave, so be there so you can tell your kids about it.

If you didn't get your weekly recommended dose of murmur from that, come out to the Oregon Express on Saturday July 28th and enjoy good music and good pizza.

It's deja vu all over again when murmur strikes back at the Oregon Express on Saturday, August 11th.

UD students can rock in another semester with murmur on Saturday, August 18th at Walnut Hills (on Brown Street).

Not even Cincinnati is safe from the murmur freight train. We roll on down to Cincy and hit Dirty Jacks on Saturday, August 25th.

So come one, come all and enjoy the shows. Who knows, we might even give a prize to any murmur fan that makes it to all five shows.

2:34 am - It's ALIVE
murmur will be rising from the ashes triumphantly like a phoenix on Saturday, November 4th. Come join us as we hit the stage again with a new drummer and rock the Oregon Express in Dayton.

We are sharing the bill with two other great Dayton acts, Sleepybird and The Bull and the Bear (Wes Tirey). This is sure to be THE music event of 2006, so don't miss out.

We're going to be sharing the stage with the Turkish Delights, and opening for the national act 20 Minutes to Park.

It's going to be a great time, so come out this Wednesday night. at 9:00 sharp.

10:51 pm - Video Podcast!

We've just added a video podcast to our website. We've got 3 episodes up with more coming every week.

Anyone with an iPod using iTunes should just be able to search for murmur inside of iTunes and find us. Otherwise, check the Podcasts page of our website for more instructions.

If you just want to view the videos right here on the site, we can do that too.. Just go to the Media section (or if you're really lazy, just jump right to the Podcasts themselves.)

Enjoy!

5:56 pm - Band Playoffs Update

To all of you that came out and voted for us last night at the Canal Street Tavern Dayton Band Playoffs, we would like to extend our heartfelt thanks.  We would especially like to thank all the die hard fans that stuck around until the bitter end of the show.

To those of you that didn't come - what were you thinking?  Sure it was late (our set didn't start 'til midnight) but you missed one of the best murmur shows ever and (using the transitive property) one of the best shows ever, period.

With the help of our fans, we came in third out of the bands we played with, scoring 22 votes, which lands us in a four-way tie for 11th place.  There are only nine bands left to play in the first round, so our second round berth is guaranteed.  That means that all of you that didn't come to the first round can make it up to us by showing up at our second round show and voting for us.

You can find out when we play next by checking out our
calendar periodically.

Peace.

4:53 pm - And We're Baaack!!!
Contrary to what you might read about us in US Weekly and Star Magazine, Murmur has not disbanded. In fact we're back to rock your face off!

Murmur will be competing in the Canal Street Tavern 2006 Dayton Band Playoffs. The way we win this thing is by having people come out and vote for us. I know it's a terribly complicated process, but our fans are bright ones and we have confidence in you all.

Another interesting tidbit of information is that this is a bit of history repeating itself for the band. Last year's Band Playoffs was our first show together as a band, and this year will be our first show with our new drummer Jorge. Even more reason to come out and rock, eh?

You can get more details by checking out our calendar.

Peace,
Murmur

1:55 pm - You.... Complete me....
I'm happy to report that Jorge Nunez has joned the band in the drummer position.  This guy kicks serious ass and we're really happy he's come on board.  Look for pictures and a bio coming soon.

Also!  We're back on track with the album!  We expect to have it completed and in your hot little hands within the next 2 or 3 months.  It's sounding fantastic, if I do say so myself, and we can't wait to get back out and see all of you again.  Be on the lookout for new songs here and on our myspace page soon!  Thanks for all of your continued support!

We also have videos of "White Kid With a Civic" and "Maybe" from Canal Street Tavern up on YouTube.  Check them out, they're the next best thing to the next best thing to being at a Murmur show.

First, we have not vanished from the face of the earth.

Second, we are not involved in the leak of a CIA operative's name, but we do think "Scooter" is a kick-ass name.

Third, we have an upcoming show.  We are going to be playing at Canal Street Tavern, in warm and beautiful Dayton, Ohio on Wednesday, November 9th.  The show starts at 9:30 and we take the stage first (yeah!) so don't be late.  We're playing with The Hinges, a great Cincinnati band that we've had the pleasure to share the stage with before on a few occasions.  Even if you don't like us, come out and see them, and vice versa.

Fourth, and lastly, we have some new music available.  We've been taking a break from live shows so that we can record, and some of the first fruits of our labor are available on our MySpace site.  You can check out rough demos of "White Kid With a Civic" and "It's Pouring."

Until next time.

3:00 pm - We are moving to a secure, undisclosed location

Fall is upon us, and a chill is in the air. And with the changing of the seasons, we are going through a little change of our own. We are going to shift gears and move from performing to recording for a while. We hope to wrap-up recording of our first full-length album by the first of the year, with a release (and release party) in early 2006.

September was our busiest month so far and we would like to thank everyone that came out to the shows, and all the bands that shared the stage with us. We managed to hit four different venues (three we had never played at before) and three different cities, expanding our reach to the greater Dayton area.

We'd like to give a special shout-out to The Hinges, Terravada, and Wes Tirey and the Easyhearts. You guys were all great and we hope to cross paths again in the future. Lest you think we are falling off the face of the earth, we are still going to be updating our MySpace site, and periodically posting songs from our upcoming album from time to time.</br>

7:15 pm - Hooray for Saturdays

Well, we headlined our first weekend show last night, and all things considered (not the NPR show) it went pretty well.  It was at the Orbit Inn, which can only be described as interesting. They have any kind of beer you want, as long as it's Budwiser or Miller, along with a pretty sweet Schlitz chandelier.  The stage, if you could call it that, was just one corner of the room, no steps, no drum riser, no nothing, just a spot where there weren't any tables.

Enough griping already.  Sputnik Halo kicked things off, and provided a nice counterpoint to the Murmur sound.  We managed to get through an entire set and a half without Nat spontaneously combusting.  The Saturday time slot also allowed some of our fans (that rare and elusive breed) the opportunity to actually stick around and actually hear our music live.

In case you missed it, here is a picture showing Murmur in it's natural environment.

In case you happen to be living in or visiting the Cincy area, or just always wondered what it would be like to travel there, you can check us out on Friday, September 23rd (yes, another weekend show) at the Holy Grail in Clifton, along with The Hinges and Terravada.

10:36 pm - Closing Out August in Style

Thanks to everyone that stuck around until the wee hours of the morning to see us perform last night at Elbo's.  We'd also like to thank The Mergs, The Wankers, and Lava Cola for helping bring the rock. You can check out more pictures from the show here.

If you didn't make it out to the show, you'll have two chances to see us next week.  We return, not so triumphantly, to Canal Street Tavern on Wednesday, September 7th, with Della Rocco and H.A.M.  And if weeknights aren't your thing, you can catch us at The Orbit Inn on Saturday, September 10th, with Sputnik Halo.

If blogs are your thing, then stop by and check out the blog we've doing for the Dayton Daily News, and for crying out loud, leave us a comment.

9:43 pm - Let's get this thing started
Since this is the first post to our blog, I feel some introductions are necessary. My name is Tim, and I am a member of the band Murmur. We are an alternative/indie/rock/pop band from Dayton, Ohio.

My fellow band members (Chad, Sam, Nakesha and Nat) and I will be sharing our innermost thoughts and feelings, along with alot of shameless self-promoting. And like any teen movie - we will laugh a little, cry a little, fall in love, and each learn a little something about ourselves along the way.

So until our next post, thank you all for coming out, you've been a lovely audience, and don't forget to tip your waiters and waitresses.

Check out our blog and others on
